Haiku is meant to tell about a seemingly ordinary moment (having to do with nature) in a way that makes it special. Humans are existential creatures. Sometimes, as we go about our daily routines, we see something special in an ordinary moment that we have failed to experience the last 100 times we have performed the routine. […]

Within Our Nostrils, the Breath of Life
Published August 1st, 2007 in Natural Revelation and Poetry. 0 CommentsGod’s creatures chirping.
Splendid flowers radiate.
Clean air fills the lungs,
Nurturing the breath of life,
Keeping the senses alive.
Revolutionaries
Have minds that are free.
Revolutionaries
Are always unique despite their adversaries.
Students of their ways mimic what they see,
Thus by being alike in every way, they too may be
Revolutionaries.
Battle cries rise as warriors take arms.
As a single body, frontlines draw near.
Marching in such a oneness, it alarms
the fierce foe; they begin trembling in fear.
As they come into range they all take aim,
a volley of words pouring down like rain.
Crippled and tired, the enemy retreats.
Bible’s raised, the victors begin their fete.
An idle coward,
he stood to the side watching
as a snake tempted his bride.
A manly hero,
he was tempted, bruised and killed
to save his bride from her foe.
the dragon bound
the King now sits
immortal on his throne
oblivious natives –
abandoned pilgrims
chastise the hopeful
mother’s voice is heard
grow to trust in the unseen
birth day - a familiar face
Father’s care is felt
life giving presence so strong
faithless until profession
playtime over –
men in suits
follow the leader
stock is down –
federal vision is
bad for business

Over his kingdom and his bride -
Who spreads his word and shows his love
To every nation, tongue and tribe.
She will extend and encompass,
Wheat and tare will grow en masse,
Light and darkness will each wage war.
Hope in his return, not before.
The tulip,
A magnificent flower.
Though alone it exquisitely reflects
The wisdom of its creator,
Its true beauty can only
Be appreciated when
It takes its proper place
In the bouquet
With God’s full revelation.
